TARIFF AND CUSTOMS LAWS OF THE PHILIPPINES - CHAN ROBLES VIRTUAL LAW LIBRARY.

And I can't find reference saying that there is a 10% VAT charge for items bought abroad by a Filipino tourist!!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

10% VAT is standard on all imports. Don't be so naive. Check BIR.

Just a few months ago I ordered a gadget. Cost about 16K PHP. Brand new. Guess what? No 10% VAT! And this was even thru fedex.

An item declared as personal should not have VAT. Except of course if the quantity is more than 1.

Or better yet, why don't they just make a HUGE banner on arrival and departure areas with something like "TO ALL FILIPINO TOURISTS ALL IMPORTS ARE SUBJECT TO 10% VAT". That way nobody in his right mind would dare buy an item abroad.

better warn my lola... i asked her to hand carry an ibook and HP pavilion home next week.... si ka edong lang talaga naniningil nyan... kickback daw.. ahahhaha! jk!
