VisualVM

Its lightweight and good enough for most cases. The only drawback is on OS X the JDK 1.6 seems to have a bug so profiling is not enabled. Bummer!

Profiling works fine, if you have JDK 6 on Mac OS X 10.5.x (Intel, 64bit).

Hi Tom,

Thanks for dropping by. But I have the latest 1.6 JDK and the Profile option on visualVM stays disabled. Is there any JVM setting I need to enable on the app I want to profile? Or does the app need to use JDK 1.6 as well? Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

Yes, profiled application must be running on JDK6. See VisualVM feature matrix at https://visualvm.dev.java.net/features.html#feature_matrix

Thanks for the info Tom. Will give VisualVM another spin.

Thanks again and more power to VisualVM!
